WHAT IS THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Infants and toddlers spend a great deal of time in the caregiving setting. The environment’s ability to support the growing child’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development is critical. This workshop explores the many options for designing and equipping the environment so that it meets each child’s need for intimate relationships, health, safety, comfort, and exploration. Participants will learn the components for setting up appropriate learning environments that encourage children’s movement, support children’s play and exploration, support multi-sensory experiences, and provide consistency and predictability.
