This training is designed to provide teachers and caregivers with methods for supporting dual language learners and their families, as well as strategies for accommodating and promoting cultural diversity in the classroom. Participants will use that they learn throughout the training to create an action plan for their programs, which will support their professional growth as educators. Participants will be able to describe strategies to use to support dual language learners, describe strategies to use to build linguistic awareness, explain how young children become bilingual, describe the benefits of bilingualism and its impact on child development, list several methods for accommodating and promoting emerging bilingual skills in the classroom, and list several methods for accommodating and promoting bilingualism in teacher-parent interactions.
